    Weekly Update 14/11/25

Rain, rain go away!!!!! We either have none or a deluge!!!

In the Isuzu FA Vase Second Round on Saturday, our 7teams left in the competition went down to 3Cinderford Town drew 1-1 with Helston Athletic, subsequently winning 5-3 on penalties. Hallen drew 0-0 v Andover New Street away and then went on to win 4-1 on penalties. Slimbridge travelled down to Ivybridge Town and came back with an emphatic 5-0 victory; all 5 goals being scored by different scorers. Corsham Town lost 4-1 away to Bovey TraceyRoman Glass St George suffered a 1-0home defeat v Hamworthy RecreationShortwood Unitedtravelled to Downton and lost 4-1. This was Shortwood United’s first time in the 2nd round for 14 years, so a great achievement. Thornbury Town were away at Hythe & Dibden, took a 2-0 lead in the first half with all looking good, but a 2nd half 3 goal comeback ended their chances to progress. The draw for the Third round has already been made with home games for Slimbridge and Hallen and an away game for Cinderford town, all due to be playedonDecember 6th. I noted there were good crowds at all the games, hopefully the crowds will flock to the next round games as well.

In the UHL Premier Division on Saturday, Droitwich Spawon the derby v Pershore Town 4-1 with 276 watching, Worcester Raiders travelled to Hereford Pegasus and won 3-0Cirencester Town continued their steady progress with a 3-0 home win v Tuffley RoversHighworth Towntravelled to Cribbs and won 1-0Fairford Town who have games in hand won 2-0 at home to Mangotsfield UnitedRoyal Wootton Bassett Town Longlevens finished 1-1and Lydney Town turned the formbook upside down winning 2-1 at home v WestfieldsLydney Town’s win really did bring them back from being cut adrift at the bottom of the table. On Wednesday evening leaders Roman Glass St George put their Vase exit behind them, winning 4-1 at home v Cinderford Town who finished the game with 9men.

In UHL Division One, on Saturday, leaders Bewdley Townwere held to at 1-1 home draw v Stonehouse TownFC Stratford won 4-0 away v Woodford UnitedRedditch Borough won 4-1 at home v Thame United Reserves, free scoring Wantage Town won 6-0 at home v Malmesbury Victoria with Josh Davis scoring a hattrick and claiming the Uhlsport match ballCheltenham Saracens v Brimscombe & Thrupp finished in a 2-2 draw in the Glos derbyChipping Sodbury Town won 3-0 at home v Wellington and Clanfield 85 climbed out of the bottom 3with a 2-1 away win v Ludlow Town. In the Wiseman Lighting (UHL) Floodlit Cup on Tuesday, Newent Townwon 3-2 v Bewdley Town.

In the Alliance EastHungerford Town Reserves travelled to Penn & Tylers Green United and won 5-0Headington Amateurs won 3-0 v Easington Sports Dev and there was a 5-goal thriller which saw Banbury United Dev winning 3-2 v Hambleden.

Bourton Rovers Dev v Evesham United Reserves finished 1-2 in Alliance West.

The disappointing news in the Alliance West saw the withdrawal of Mangotsfield United Dev, with a lack of commitment and buy-in from the players. Their record will be expunged as per the normal protocol.

In the Batemans Sports Alliance (Chairman’s) Challenge Cup Hightworth Town Reserves won 3-0 v Clanfield (85) Reserves.

The UHL Management Committee had their meeting on Wednesday evening where we talked long into the evening. Lots of topics on the agenda which was 15 items long. One of the big ones was: how do we end the season, in terms of the play-offs as well as the cup finals. More will follow on that. From the meeting was the news that clubs no longer have to upload an image for postponed games as they would have been on a video call with either Brian or myself. The respect table was also discussed and some clubs will be invited in to have a discussion given their points tally for respect not being up to the standards expected. I will also be emailing clubs in the next few weeks for interest to host the cup finals – thanks to those whose interest has already been registered.

Finally, onto this weekend, where we are currently being blitzed by Storm ClaudiaBrian and myself are expecting a good few calls and we will both be available from 09:30Saturday morning. A reminder, any Premier Division or Division One club must call Brian and any Alliance club must call myself to arrange a Whatsapp Video inspection. Obviously if things are already looking bad, make contact today and the appropriate decision can potentially be made early.

Fingers crossed we get a good proportion of our games in as Saturday’s weather looks more encouraging.

    Stay Dry,

    Ian

  • CLUB NEWS UPDATE — LONGLEVENS NAMED SEPTEMBER TEAM OF THE MONTH!

CLUB NEWS UPDATE — LONGLEVENS NAMED SEPTEMBER TEAM OF THE MONTH!

In a standout moment for the club this week, our Chair, Bill, paid a special visit to present Longlevens with the September Team of the Month Award.

Rather than a full team gathering, Bill met privately with members of the management team, who proudly accepted the award on behalf of the entire squad. The presentation was a moment of quiet significance, a recognition of the relentless effort, discipline, and togetherness that have powered Longlevens through an exceptional September.

Bill praised the club’s professionalism and commitment, highlighting the consistency and character that made Longlevens stand out among their peers. The management team expressed their gratitude and their excitement to carry that winning momentum into this weekend’s upcoming fixture.

This award marks an important milestone and adds an extra spark ahead of a big match on the horizon.

Congratulations to Longlevens — September’s Team of the Month.

A proud achievement. A big weekend ahead. Let’s keep the momentum rolling.

  • Hat-Trick Hero Strikes Again: Aidan Clark Bags Second Treble Against Tuffley!

Hat-Trick Hero Strikes Again: Aidan Clark Bags Second Treble Against Tuffley!

If Tuffley had nightmares after the first encounter, they’ll need therapy after this one. Aidan Clark has done it again, netting his second set of three goals against the same unlucky side this season. That’s right, two hat-tricks, one victim. Somewhere in Gloucestershire, defenders are running scared.

The match started with Tuffley showing promise, but that lasted about as long as a chocolate teapot in a heatwave. Clark opened the scoring with a finish so calm it could have been sipping tea. His second? A thunderbolt that nearly needed planning permission. And the third? Well, let’s just say the goalkeeper is still checking if the ball had a tracking device.

Fans were chanting, teammates were grinning, and even the referee looked impressed, though he still booked someone for celebrating too hard. With this performance, Clark has officially become Tuffley’s least favourite person since whoever invented away fixtures.

The big question now: Can anyone stop him? Or should Tuffley just start sending him Christmas cards and hope for mercy?

    Weekly Update 07/11/25

    It’s a Fixture packed weekend –

In the Isuzu FA Vase Second Round this Saturday, we have 7 teams left in the competition. Cinderford Town are at home to Helston Athletic and Roman Glass St George are at home to Hamworthy RecreationHallen are away to Andover New StreetCorsham Town are down in Devon to play Bovey TraceyThornbury Town travel to Southampton to play Hythe & DibdenSlimbridge are in South Devon to play Ivybridge Town and Shortwood United are not too far away in Wiltshire where they play Downton FCShortwood United deserve a mention having had their away game v Street in the previous round abandoned in the 75th minute due to a serious injury to a Street player, then having to go back again and win the rearranged game. They went 1-0 up in the 82nd minute only for Street to equalize in the 87th minute and then winning 5-3 on penalties. There is every chance to progress for all of our teams and I hope to be reporting further success next week. All the very best to you all.

In the UHL Premier Division last Saturday, there were no League games as the fixtures were dominated by the UHL Challenge Cup. There were several games involving Premier Division Sides v sides in Division One and the Alliance league sides. Most notable results saw Wantage Town (D1) win 3-0 over Lydney Town (Prem) and Cheltenham Saracens (D1) travelling away to Cribbs (Prem), drawing 1-1 and then winning 4-3 on penalties. Fairford Town (Prem) hit 8 without reply v Penn & Tylers Green United (Alliance East), Westfields (Prem) winning 5-1 against Headington Amateurs (Alliance East), Pershore Town (Prem) travelled to Carterton (D1) and won 4-1. Mangotsfield United (Prem) won 6-0 at home v Malmesbury Victoria (D1)Highworth Town (Prem) travelled to Brimscombe & Thrupp (D1) and won 2-1 and Hereford Pegasus (Prem) winning 3-0 at home v Bewdley Town (D1). One game in the UHL Premier Division on Tuesday saw Corsham Town hitting a 92nd minute equalizer in a 1-1 draw v Mangotsfield United.

In UHL Division One, again League games were limited last Saturday, but the 7-1 home win for Shortwood United v Ludlow Town was the most standout and reduced Shortwood United’s minus goal difference significantly. There was a nice spread of goals amongst the players, but no hattrick award. Woodford United won 3-0 v Newent Town and Alcester Town had a narrow 1-0 home win v Thame United Reserves.

One game in the UHL Division One on Tuesday saw Newent Town returning to winning ways 2-0 v Wellington.

Hungerford Town Reserves travelled to Eastington Sports Dev and won3-1 in Alliance East.

  • ⚡ Hellenic Division One – The Battle for Supremacy Tightens ⚡

⚡ Hellenic Division One – The Battle for Supremacy Tightens ⚡

As November kicks into gear, Division One is serving up pure entertainment — goals, shocks, and a title race that’s tighter than a linesman’s shorts after Christmas dinner.

Sitting proudly at the top, Bewdley Town continue to lead the charge with 31 points from 13 games. Ten wins already, and they’re showing no signs of slowing. It’s been a ruthless, no-nonsense start — and everyone else knows it.

FC Stratford, though, are hot on their heels. Only five points behind with a game in hand, they’ve been slick, organised, and quietly confident. Redditch Borough and Cheltenham Saracens are right in the mix too — both sides boasting eight wins and an eye firmly fixed on top spot.

Just below, Malmesbury Victoria and Wantage Town are proving that style and substance can go hand-in-hand. Malmesbury have turned consistency into an art form, while Wantage’s recent run has them within touching distance of the top five.

The middle pack is where things get spicy — Newent Town, Woodford United, and Stonehouse Town all locked in the same postcode on points, separated only by goal difference. Brimscombe & Thrupp aren’t far behind either, quietly building momentum with games in hand.

Further down, there’s a real dogfight brewing. Alcester, Chipping Sodbury, and Ludlow Town are all doing their best to stay in touch, while Carterton will be hoping October’s spark carries into the winter months.

And then, at the bottom… well, it’s been a long autumn for Clanfield 85, who seem to have misread “Division One” as “Division Fun.” With just two wins from fourteen and a goal difference that looks like a helpline number, they’ll be desperate to turn things around before the Christmas lights go up. Still — football’s a funny game, and if anyone can pull a rabbit out of the hat, it’s the 85ers… though right now, it might be more hamster than hare. 🐹⚽

With Shortwood, Wellington, and Thame United Reserves also searching for form, every point down there matters — and every fixture feels like a cup final.

So as we head into this weekend, buckle up. Division One’s got drama at both ends of the table — and no one’s safe when the whistle blows.

  • 🔥 Hellenic Premier – The Race Heats Up Heading into the Weekend 🔥

🔥 Hellenic Premier – The Race Heats Up Heading into the Weekend 🔥

As we roll into another weekend of Hellenic Premier action, the table is starting to take real shape — and there’s no shortage of storylines lighting up the league.

At the summit, Roman Glass St George continue to sparkle, sitting pretty at the top with 36 points from 17 games. A run of clinical wins and a defence that refuses to buckle keeps them narrowly ahead — but the heat is rising fast from below.

Just one point back, Slimbridge are flying. Eleven wins from fifteen and a goal difference of +23 tell you everything about their attacking intent. They’ve got the form, they’ve got the flair — and they’re coming for top spot.

Breathing down their necks, Droitwich Spa are the picture of consistency. Ten wins and only three defeats mean they’re right in the title conversation, just three points off the summit with a game in hand.

Corsham Town, October’s Team of the Month, continue to impress in fourth. With 29 points from 15, they’re building momentum and still have the look of a side who could climb even higher. Behind them, a three-way tie on 26 points sees Worcester Raiders, Hereford Pegasus, and Westfields all jostling for position in the chasing pack — each capable of taking points off anyone on their day.

Mid-table remains a minefield. Mangotsfield, Longlevens, and Cirencester are all within striking distance of the top half, while Pershore and Fairford sit tight on 20 and 19 points, keeping things deliciously unpredictable.

At the other end, it’s getting nervy. Highworth, Cribbs, and Thornbury are scrapping for breathing space, while Hallen and Royal Wootton Bassett Town need to find form — and fast — to steer clear of trouble. For Lydney Town, the fight for survival is already in full swing after a tough start to the campaign.

With the top seven separated by just ten points and the bottom half ready to explode into life, this weekend’s fixtures could prove pivotal. Expect goals, drama, and plenty of movement in what’s shaping up to be one of the most exciting Hellenic seasons in years.
