This Website Has Been Taken Offline
Following my resignation as a Director of Hellenic Football League Limited and my decision to step away from my responsibilities within the League, I have withdrawn the website, systems and services that I personally developed, maintained and funded.
These systems were provided to support the League, its clubs, officials and volunteers. Following recent events concerning governance, decision-making and the administration of the League, I am no longer able to continue providing or personally funding those services.
This decision has not been taken lightly. A considerable amount of time, knowledge and personal resources have been invested in developing and maintaining the League's digital infrastructure.
The website has therefore been taken offline as a consequence of my withdrawal from those responsibilities. The League will now need to make its own arrangements for the future management, hosting, funding and administration of its website and associated systems.
I remain grateful to the clubs, officials, volunteers and supporters who have contributed to the League and to everyone who has supported the work behind this website.
A Special Note
I would also like to place on record my sincere thanks to Bill Beach, the Chair of the League, for the support, professionalism and friendship he has shown me during what has been an exceptionally difficult period.
What has happened over the last 12 months should not simply be dismissed as differences of opinion. I have witnessed a growing pattern of internal division, the erosion of trust and the departure of people who have given significant time and service to this League.
I have reached the point where I can no longer ignore what I believe is a fundamental problem with the way certain individuals within the organisation conduct themselves and exercise influence. Decisions, conversations and actions have increasingly created an environment in which people are questioned, isolated, undermined or ultimately removed when they no longer fit the desired direction.
I am not prepared to become another name on that list simply for refusing to remain silent or for challenging decisions that I believe deserve proper scrutiny.
I am also not prepared to continue providing my time, expertise, systems or personal resources to an organisation where I no longer have confidence that those resources are being used within a framework of proper governance, transparency and accountability.
I have seen enough over the past year to form my own conclusions. I am not the first person to find themselves in this position, and I strongly suspect I will not be the last unless something fundamentally changes.
The League is bigger than any individual, director or internal group. It belongs to its clubs, its officials, its volunteers and the people who have spent years giving their time to make it work. Those people deserve an organisation where disagreement can exist without becoming personal and where decisions can be challenged without consequences being attached to doing so.
I genuinely hope that, in time, the League returns to those principles and that proper governance, openness and accountability become more important than personalities or internal politics.
Bill, thank you for your support. It has not gone unnoticed, and I will always be grateful for it.
