Cup games were the predominant fixtures this weekend with uhlsport Hellenic League teams involved in eight different Cup competitions.

South West Peninsula League Premier Bovey Tracey and Abingdon United finally met at Mill Marsh Park after heavy rain fall put paid to the scheduled fixture last weekend. Meet they did . . . . however meet was all that happened! A 9am pitch inspection confirmed the pitch playable, a 1pm inspection reported the same , just prior to kick off the referee decided to call the game off. A long and fruitless journey for Abingdon, and the game will be rearranged once more.


On Friday night Binfield took on Burnham at Stubbs Lane. Sean Moore scored a hat trick for the Moles, who were 4-2 victors over Burnham. Scorers Home: Sean Moore 22,73,88 OG 69     Away: Kian Duncan 19 Gavin James 79

Losing to the only goal of the game after normal time Reading City can thank Arthur Furness for rescuing their Challenge Cup journey by scoring an equaliser against Ardley United in the third minute of added time at the Rivermoor ground. One West Shortwood United were against Premier side Bishops Cleeve at Meadowbank Stadium. Cleeve wrapped up an away win with three unanswered first half goals. Scorers Away: Jack Watts 13 26 Luke Wright 37

Premier Division Shrivenham were host to One West Tytherington Rocks at the Recreation Ground. A decent game played at a medium tempo. St James Park was the venue for the solitary Premier Division of the day where Brackley Town Saints hosted Windsor. A Ryan Knight hat trick added all the goals for the hosts who wan 3-2. Scorers Home: Ryan Knight 47, 56, 58    Away: Dylan Ive 12 

Division One West

Also only one Division One game took place that was at Oldends Lane where Stonehouse Town hosted Cirencester Town Development. Winning 3-0 Stonehouse played with five reserve team players playing plus new signing Lloyd Gardiner who marked his debut with a stunning goal. Cirencester competed throughout but hardly tested Pedrick in the Stonehouse goal. With first Team players returning next week stonehouse look forward to their visit to Wellington.
