Bassett have had a tricky start to their uhlsport Hellenic League Premier Division programme so far in 2019-20, picking up just two points from their first four fixtures.
The Vase has already provided some respite for Collier’s troops as they roared to a 7-0 success away at near neighbours Swindon New College in the previous round back in August.
Bassett go on the round in this weekend’s second qualifying round as they have been drawn away to Tadley Calleva, and boss Collier is eager to stay in an upbeat mood.
“Although we are down the bottom, we have only played four games. We are not worried and I am not reading anything into it,” said Collier. “We have got a little break from the league now but we go into every game trying to win. Saturday in the Vase is a big one for us. It is a competition we love being involved in and we want to do well in it."
“Picking up a good cup result can start to turn momentum back in your favour again too. We will keep on looking up. The spirit in the camp is 10 times better than it has been and there are positive attitudes.”
