200 up for Corcoran - 11 September

adam corcoran hellenic league footballCongratulations to Adam Corcoran, who made his 200th Royal Wootton Bassett Town first team appearance against Malvern Town in the Banbury Litho Floodlit Cup fixture last night.

Manager Sam Collier handed the defender the captain's armband for the fixture in recognition of his service over the course of seven seasons with the club.

A Cirencester Town Academy graduate, Corcoran joined Bassett in 2011-12 after splitting time the previous year between Fairford Town and Calne Town. He made his debut on the opening day of that season at centre half against Malmesbury Victoria and wound up playing 28 times, scoring once.

The following season, Corcoran was a key part of the Bassett team which Dave Turner guided to promotion from Hellenic League Division One West as they finished runners-up behind Brimscombe and Thrupp.  While Turner departed that summer, Corcoran remained with Bassett for the 2013-14 season, scoring five times as he spent the majority of the campaign playing at full back.

After a season with Shrivenham in 2014-15, the defender returned to Bassett and has since remained at the Gerard Buxton Sports Ground. A committed player who always gives an honest account of himself, Corcoran has been a great servant to Bassett.

And the club would like to express thanks for the dedication he has shown over the years, which has allowed him to reach 200 appearances - a landmark that is rare nowadays.
