Burnham stood firm against BetVictor Southern League Division 1 Slimbridge last night to earn a home tie against BetVictor Southern League Premier Division Tiverton Town on Saturday.
Promoted to the uhlsport Hellenic League Premier Division this season, Burnham held out at Slimbridge on 24 August drawing level to 1-1 after being a goal down for the majority of the game.
Last night's replay at The Gore was another even contest, goal less after 90 minutes of normal time Slimbridge edged the balance scoring on 103 minutes. Three minutes later parity was restored and play ended with the score at 1-1. On to penalties to decide, in a tense shoot out the Burnham finished the evening victorious scoring 5 penalties to Slimbridge 4.
Saturday brings step 3 level Tiverton Town to the Gore for the First Round Qualifying game, to try and stop plucky Burnham's Emirates FA Cup progression. The winning club will receive £4,500 from The FA prize fund while losing club will collect £1,500.
