Hartley Wintney 1 Binfield 3 - 7 July

Binfield started their pre-season program at Hartley Wintney on Saturday in humid conditions more akin to sun-bathing than football.

Both sides fielded mixed sides with the Moles giving debuts to some talented  youngsters including 16 year old Charlie Wheeler, and 18 Year old Luis LePaih.

Both sides had early chances which they were unable to convert that all changed in the 35th minute when returning Sean Moore beat the goalkeeper to a through ball and converted to make the score 1-0 to the visitors.  Hartley had chances late in the half to equalise but failed to fully test the Moles stand-in keeper.

The second half saw changes to both sides  and Jonny Hathaway made it 2-0 on 75 minutes with a fierce effort which beat the home keeper from 20 yards. On 80 minutes it was 3-0 with a great run and finish by Luis LePaih .  Hartley made it 3-1 late in the game with a powerful header from a corner.

A good workout for both sides and the Moles move on to their net PSF at home on Tuesday (at Kings Academy). Uxbridge are the visitors . Manager Roger Herridge expects to welcome back number of players who had enjoyed Saturday at Henley Regatta !

Thanks to our hosts for their hospitality.
