Following a review by Public Health England, DCMS and government I enclose some update spectator guidance, effective immediately.
Clubs are encouraged to review this guidance and ensure risk assessments are updated. The main additions or amendments are as follows:
Spectators to remain 2m apart in single household (Tier 3)
Spectators to be evenly spread around the pitch 1 row deep only (Tier 3)
15% and 30% occupancy of the TOTAL admitted crowd in any covered seated or terraced area, preventing congregation (all tiers)
Reminder that failure to comply may result in interventions that could see capacities reduced or clubs required to return to behind closed doors.
As a reminder, clubs in Tier 3 are restricted to Stage 1 capacities which is 15% of the ground grading minimum capacity of the step level the club plays at.
With some areas moving to Tier 4 (thus preventing any NLS football) and news coverage of the more transmissible strain of COVID, the need for spectators to follow this guidance has never been more imperative. However, following this review it must also be stressed that government are still satisfied that as long as protocols, guidance and risk assessments are followed, spectators in Tiers 1, 2 and 3 are still very much allowed to be admitted.
DCMS will be updating their guidance to reflect these changes hopefully today. I appreciate that it is Christmas Eve but while there are some games still due to be played boxing day I wanted to get this to you at the earliest possible opportunity.
Can I take the chance to also thank everyone involved in the game a merry Christmas. It has been a challenging year but the support of Leagues, Volunteers, Committees and clubs has been fantastic and I just want to place my thanks from us all here for this. I hope you are all able to enjoy a the Christmas period.
