Binfield will start warm favourites to beat out-of-form Redhill in their Buildbase FA Vase at Hill Farm Lane on Saturday (3pm ko), but manager Roger Herridge is taking nothing for granted.
At the same time his side were winning their uhlsport Hellenic League Premier Division match 1-0 at Royal Wootton Bassett, Redhill were crashing 5-1 at Frimley Green, leaving them second bottom of the Cherry Red Records Combined Counties League Premier Division with just nine points from 12 games. But it is not uncommon for the form book to be thrown out of the window when it comes to cup ties, and Herridge (pictured) will warn his players they must not be complacent.
"We will certainly not be under-estimating them," he said. "We are at home and it is a game we should be confident of winning, but when it comes to cup ties, it is about who turns up on the day and who wants it more."
Herridge said Binfield have been doing their homework on Redhill, having them watched last week. He added: "They saw us the other week against Burnham, but I am not sure they will have learned a lot from that. "With home advantage, if we get it right, and get our own house in order, I think we have a great chance of winning. We have had a good run so far, and we want to be in the third round of the Vase."
Herridge is hoping to be able to name much the same side that beat Windsor so convincingly last Tuesday. Defender Liam Gavin, who was not available, will return to the squad, but striker Asa Povey remains sidelined due to injury.
But one non-starter from the team that won last Saturday is Danny Horscroft who played at left-back. He has left to join Windsor, his move being confirmed on Tuesday after Binfield had beaten them 5-0.
He wasn't involved in the game. Windsor manager Mark Cooper (pictured right) commented: "It is clear from tonight (Tuesday) we need to strengthen the squad. He is a decent player and we want to utilise his capabilities. Hopefully, he will become a good signing for us."
Horscroft is cup-tied, so cannot face Eastbourne Town in the Buildbase FA Vase at Stag Meadow this Saturday.
