Letcombe Raise Funds For Injured Joe And Christy - 21 April

Last August Joe Blackwell snapped his achilles tendon whilst playing for Letcombe. He was scheduled to go the United States soon afterwards on a football scholarship, but was unable to do so. The club started to raise funds to support him, but then covid intervened. On 10th April Christy Whelehan suffered a serious knee injury whilst playing for Letcombe at Hungerford Saints. He suffered a dislocated and broken knee cap with severe ligament damage and has undergone lengthy surgery. He faces many months of rehab.

Letcombe have started to raise funds to help both injured players, and the club would like to thank Wantage Town players and officials for their generous support after the match between the two clubs last Saturday. A donation box and a `£5 a team` football scratch card raised over £200, and a similar effort will be made at the match against Kintbury on Saturday 24th plus a BBQ.

The main fund raising effort will be on Saturday 2nd June at Letcombe recreation ground when a fun cricket match will be held. It is hoped to get a music licence for the day and to hold a raffle with good prizes plus a possible auction. Everybody is invited to this `fun day` to help two loyal footballers.

Any individual or club are invited to support these two great lads. Donations should be sent to Letcombe Football Club via their secretary Des Williams.
