Shortwood United's Bluefin Sport Challenge Cup game against Bishops Cleeve was abandoned on the stroke of half time after a dreadful injury to Wood player Lee Bowles.
It was a run of the mill tackle - the sort you see 100 times every game, and no blame can be attached to the Cleeve lad. It was immeadiately apparent that something was wrong and the paramedics and ambulance were called and Lee was taken to hospital.
The bones have been reset but with some ligament damage too Lee will need surgery in the next few days.
Everybody at the Wood sends Lee our very best wishes and hopes it will not be long before we see him back at Meadowbank.
We would like to thank Beth Fry, our wonderful physio and Steve Cleal of Cleeve for their calm and professional help in such difficult circumstances as well as the paramedics and ambulance service getting Lee to hospital.
