Hereford Pegasus continued their run of wins in preseason with victories against two teams in the Forest of Dean.
Ruardean Hill Rangers 2 Hereford Pegasus 5
First up, on Tuesday 16th, was Gloucester County League side Ruardean Hill Rangers. Early goals from Rory Worthing and George Andrews put Peggy into a 2-0 lead within the first quarter of an hour. A penalty from veteran striker Cory Hyde increased the lead further before Ruardean pulled a goal back. The away side put the result beyond doubt before half time with midfielders Kieron Slatter and Zac Sirrell both finding the back of the net. The second half was a quieter affair; the home side scored from the spot to reduce the arrears but Pegasus had to settle with their first half haul.
English Bicknor 1 Hereford Pegasus 4
With a number of key players away it as the opportunity for a number of squad players to get some vital game time on Saturday against a side recently promoted to Gloucestershire Northern Senior League Division 1. Peggy took a few minutes to get into the game but went on to dominate possession, however it was Bicknor who took the lead with James Davies winning a high ball on the edge of the area. This spurred Pegasus into action and Marc Avery fired them level five minutes later, just a minute after Kieron Slatter weaved through a number of defenders before guiding the ball into the net with his weaker foot. The second half saw the introduction of trialist John Charles from the bench and he was rewarded for his hard work with a goal on 55 minutes. Two minutes later Marc Avery doubled his tally with the final goal of the game. Further efforts to increase the score were attempted but it was to finish with a 4-1 win.
Next up is a trip back to Ludlow on Tuesday to face old league rivals Shawbury United from West Midland (Regional) League Premier Division.
