Nice To Crack On - 29 March 2021

adam saunstonMalvern Town players get ready to be able to return to training this week in preparation for the action getting back underway in April, Malvern Town defender, Adam Sauntson, admits that football is the thing he’s missed most during the latest lockdown.

“The latest lockdown wasn’t too bad, I guess we have all just got used to the new normal,” he said. “Football is what I missed most and the social aspect of seeing family and friends.Getting back with the lads and having matches to prepare for again is exciting. Just being able to kick a ball around with others will be great and hopefully the road back to getting some normality again.I’ve done a lot of running to keep ticking over and set up some small football drills just to keep busy and active."

“It will be nice to crack on with preparations for our FA Vase tie. We face a tough trip to Congleton Town; they are another side from a level above us and will provide tough opposition, but I know how much an extended run in this competition means to the lads and the club. We will be bang up for it, you can be sure of that. We want to go there and show exactly what we are capable of and hopefully make it through to the next round.

“It’s a huge game and the chance to create some history for the club. These are the kind of games that you want to be involved in and I hope that we can continue where we left off before lockdown. We believe that we should be competing at a higher level, so this gives us another chance to prove it as we did against Rothwell and Sporting Khalsa in the previous round."

“There’s a Wembley Final at the end of this competition, so it really is a big deal for everyone that is still involved. To be still in it gives us all a massive boost after what have been difficult times.”
