It was a proud moment for Malvern Town's long-serving Harry Wickett on Saturday as he led the team out as captain.
“I appreciated the opportunity given to me by the managers to lead the team out and wear the armband,” he said. “It was a proud moment for me and overall it was another good performance from the team. We are always disappointed to concede goals, but the main aim was to get the three points, which we did and it strengthened our position at the top of the table."
“I’ve been happy to get plenty of minutes under my belt so far this season; we started the season well and we’re in a good position at the moment, but we don’t want to get too ahead of ourselves and will keep taking it each game at a time. There’s plenty of strength in depth within the squad this season and it has shown through already in our early games with people picking up knocks and others able to slot straight in and do a job."
“It means that we all have to be able to maintain a consistent level of performance. From a personal point of view I will keep working as hard as I can and fill any role that I am asked to play to help the team."
“We’re looking forward to each game; our momentum is building all of the time and we’re playing with plenty of confidence, which bodes well.”
