Dene Whittal-Williams, gives his verdict on Malvern Town's uhlsport Hellenic League Division One West 6-2 victory over Cirencester Town Development.
“We started the game well,” he said. “Our opponents didn’t come out of the blocks as we expected initially and we were able to get into a two-goal lead pretty easily. They were then able to pull a goal back, which was well-worked from their point of view but disappointing from ours, and then we had to work hard against well-drilled opposition."
“It was mixed emotions for us because we played really well in parts but then let our standards slip at other times. That said, we kept working and playing and in the end it was nice to see us score six goals and add another three points to our tally to strengthen our position at the top of the table."
“It all adds to the momentum and there were other positives too, such as young Nathan Chowns Higgs getting his first League start and marking it with a goal, plus some of the other lads taking their chances in the team. I was pleased to see a crowd of almost 200 here and hopefully they are enjoying it as much as the players and staff are right now."
“We take a break from the League with a Bluefin Sports (UHL) Challenge Cup tie against SC Inkberrow here on Tuesday evening. Whoever we face will give it a good go and we enjoy that aspect. We’ll pick a team that we feel will be able to see us progress because we want to do well in every competition that we enter.”
