Malvern Co-Manager, Lee Hooper, was pleased with the way in which his team battled out the three points against Cheltenham Saracens.
“I felt that we started the game sloppy,” he admitted. “We didn’t move the ball and have the same tempo as we have done in recent weeks. But we managed to grind out what was an important victory for us."
“We created a lot of chances but were unable to capitalize upon them and it allowed our visitors to get 2-1 in front. It meant that we had to show different kind of characteristics than we have done in previous weeks to get back into the game, but we were patient and keep battling away to finally get our reward in the end."
“Whilst it’s nice to win games convincingly like we have done recently, it’s also good to know that we can roll our sleeves up and grind out a win as we have done here. In many ways it is more satisfying to do it in this manner."
“We now prepare for another tough game on Tuesday at Hereford Lads Club. I am expecting a similar kind of test as this one and we’ll be ready for it. I can’t thank the fans enough for the support that they have given us today. To have 252 here is outstanding and this kind of backing really spurs the lads on in games like this to give them an extra push towards the end."
“It was brilliant to see and hopefully we’ll have a decent following on Tuesday before we return to home action next Saturday.”
