A Proper Cup Tie - 1 November

malvern town hellenic league Lee Hooper, has heaped praise on the Malvern players after they secured their place in the second round of the Buildbase FA Vase by beating Rothwell Corinthians, a team from a level above them, by three goals to one.

“It was a proper Cup tie,” he said. “The game had a bit of everything and we showed a lot of character to come out on top against higher level opponents. They were physical and tried to play a bit as well so I was very pleased with the result."

“It showed the togetherness that exists within our squad; the lads are buying in to what we are trying to do here. They recognise and understand that we have to rotate the squad and are ready to step in and do what is asked of them when required."

“We have plenty of belief and will always back ourselves to win, even against opposition from higher levels. A run in the FA Vase can really give us confidence. We did well last year in this competition and hopefully we can get on another run."

“The atmosphere was great on Saturday and that is credit to both sets of supporters. Our fans turned up in good numbers and really got behind us to play their part in the victory and we would like to thank them for that.”
