Rediscover Form - 22 November

james pritchard hellenic leagueMarlow United boss James Pritchard is hopeful his side will rediscover their early season form when the fixtures start coming thick and fast again. Writes Daniel Darlington in the Maidenhead Advertiser

Competitive matches have been thin on the ground for the Flying Blues in uhlsport Hellenic League Division One East during the last few weeks and their form has taken a dip.

In Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Chalvey Sports Pritchard said Marlow looked like a side ‘that hadn’t played in a while’ but they looked much more like their old selves in Tuesday’s 3-1 win over Long Crendon. Charles Bull, Chris Hurst and Liam Bushay were on target as the side moved to within two points of leaders Risborough Rangers.

Pritchard acknowledges it must be a nightmare for the league's fixture secretary with nine of the 17 sides currently ground sharing.

“We’re just looking to get some momentum going now,” he said. “The games will come thick and fast in the New Year but on Saturday we looked like a side that hadn’t played in a while. We’re just not getting any consistency or momentum at the moment. You want to be training, playing, training, playing, but at the moment we’re not getting that. We’re doing what we can. Everyone is now fit and our suspensions are completed so we want to finish the year as positively as we can and try to finish the season in the top three which would likely gain us promotion.

“We probably are where we should be in the league and just want to get a regular run of fixtures and start getting points on the board.”

Marlow United are next in competitive action at Kidlington Development in the Banbury Litho Floodlit Cup on Tuesday night.
