A twitter communication has been received from One East club Abingdon Town to say they "have parted ways with chairman, secretary, match secretary and discipline secretary Brian Kirk who officially resigned yesterday"
Not perhaps the best way to describe the departure of the person who has kept the club together in recent difficult times. Though the description of "chairman, secretary, match secretary and discipline secretary" does underline what Kirk was tasked with to keep the club functioning.
Kirk pulled the club back from the brink on at least two occasions, including signing himself on to keep goal for the team in Division One East during a player shortage. . . not bad for a 64 year old!
No doubt we will still see his "youthful" looks and smiling face in the Hellenic League with his match official hat on.
