buildbaseBuildbase FA Vase Quarter Final

A landmark day for the Uhlsport Hellenic League with three teams competing for a place in the semi-final for the first time ever.

In front of a crowd of 2200 at Melksham Town’s impressive recently built Oaklands stadium, Thatcham Town were one goal victors over the Toolstation Premier Division home side. In a game that couldn’t be classed as an example of exciting football for a neutral  spectator, the result could have gone either way, and looked destined for a replay. In the 89th minute Ekow Elliot shuffled the ball well to create space, before slotting it into the back of the net. After a long period of added time, justifiable through long periods of injury stoppages, the referee blew the full time whistle to see the Kingfishers earn their place the semi-final draw on Monday.

The road to Wembley ended for the Hellenic League’s other two teams in contention

Bracknell Town’s FA Vase dreams came to an end in front of a crowd of 1142 at Larges Lane. Opponents Ebac Northern League Division One Marske United scored on the cusp of half time, then added a further two goals in the final 20 minutes Bracknell were able to score.

Windsor travelled to Teeside to compete against Ebac Northern League Division One Stockton Town. 1213 spectators witnessed the home side secure a 2-0 win through two first half goals.

Thatcham Town now enter Monday’s Buildbase FA Vase semi final draw to find out who their next opponents will be from Marske United, Stockton Town and 1874 Northwich. The two legged semi final will be played on the weekends of 17 and 24 March.
