Positive End After Tough Week- 4 December

After crashing out of the Gloucestershire County Cup after a poor performance away to Brockworth Albion and the 120 mile round trip to Thatcham Towns and back without kicking a ball. (Due to the failure to call the game off earlier in the day when it was obviously never going to be played due to the cold weather) It was fair to say Rangers had a less than enjoyable 7 days.

To round the week off was the visit of rivals Bourton Rovers. In a tight game Rangers ran out winners with a Lee Brooks header just after half time. This was after a horror tackle from Jamie Wyatt putting Connor Teague, Bourton's star player out of the game, but only receiving a yellow card much to the away side' dismay. A very even contest but one Rangers were glad to win. This puts MRFC clear leaders at the top of the league in their quest for promotion.

Next up for Rangers is another trip down to Thatcham on another Tuesday night, 13 December. Before a very hectic festive period which sees Rangers play on Chrismas Eve, and New Year's Eve.

A Big Week Ahead - 24 November

The next week will be exciting and tricky for Moreton Rangers, with two cup ties followed by a top of the table class against a local rival.

Firstly Rangers travel to Brockworth Albion in the Gloucester County Cup Third round. Rangers are familiar rivals of Brockworth over the past 10 years as both clubs progressed from the Cheltenham League to the Northern Senior league. Rangers will be in for a tough game against a physical Albion side who are second in their league.

Then Tuesday MRFC travel to Thatcham Town who at the moment are currently top of the Uhlsport Hellenic Premier Division, 35 places in the league separate the two teams. The match will give Rangers a chance to see where they are at and if they can compete against a team from a higher level. Then finally to round off the week, Rangers will host local rivals Bourton Rovers, who can go top if they win the match at London Road. With both clubs keen to play in the league above next season it will go some way to deciding who will be top at Christmas. It will be the first time Rangers have played at London road for 8 matches and almost 2 months. The MRFC v Bourton Rovers will Kick off at 2pm at London Road.

Cup Trip For Moreton - 12 October

Moreton Rangers will travel to Thatcham Town in the next round of the Bluefin Sport Hellenic Challenge Cup.

The date is yet to be confirmed but after a good start in the league Rangers will want to show the Hellenic league what they are about. Last season Rangers faced Binfield at home, in a game the Hellenic Premier side won 3-0.

With Thatcham currently top of the table it will give Rangers a good chance to show where they are at and how they need to improve to get to the next level. Rangers will aim to improve on their league position in the next few weeks as they travel to Oxford Nomads Development on Saturday. Before a two week break from the league which sees them travel to South Gloucestershire twice, facing Lydbrook and Brimscombe & Thrupp Reserves in the the County Cup and then the Hellenic Chairman's Challenge cup.

Some good news for Rangers after the departure of captain Sam Tyack. Jamie Wyatt previously of Hook Norton and North Leigh has decided to sign for his childhood club and come back to where it all started.

Wyatt had been training with Easington and had offers from shipston, Hook Norton and Easington, but has decided to sign for the season at London Road as Rangers attempt to gain promotion to Hellenic division one West.

MRFC have their second friendly of the season tonight (Thursday) at home to FC Barometrics. 7pm kick off at London Road.

Moreton Rangers News - 11 July

Division Two West side Moreton Rangers look to build on their respectable third place finish last season with some difficult Pre season games.

On Saturday 16 July London Road will host Hook Norton with new signing Jamie Wyatt in the squad to face his old club. Wyatt came back to MRFC at the end of the season when he fell out of favour at Hooky.

As well as other friendlies including Barometrics, Alcester Town and Cropedy. The club is very excited by the prospect of traveling to Wales to face Barry Town. Coach Gary Barnett managed to organise a friendly against his old club, where he took the side into the UEFA Cup and Champions League where he achieved countless trophies and Leagues winner medals. Barry finished second in Division One of Wales last season. This will prove a difficult test for Rangers but one the squad is very much looking forward to.

Training has been running for the past couple of weeks at the London Road ground, on Mondays and Wednesdays starting at 6.30. There have been a number of new faces attending, as well as many of last season’s squad.

The club has however lost its captain. Ex Cheltenham Town and Worcester City school boy Sam Tyack, has left the club after 6 years, due to living too far away and his girlfriend about to give birth in the coming months. Sam (pictured) will play at Midland Football League side Alcester Town for this season and hopefully come back to London Road to help Moreton achieve their goal of promotion to Uhlsport Hellenic Division 1 West in the next year or two.
