Wembley Sale - 30 April

Brian King has been asked by the Step 5 & 6 representative on FA Council to seek comments from member clubs and requests clubs discuss this with all interested parties within the Uhlsport Hellenic League and forward comments to Brian.

Naturally it is likely that this topic will bring a lot of interest and views and it will not be possible to answer every reply through the FA but I hope that the matter receives discussion from your members and that a summary can be sent to me expressing your clubs views and comments.

Below is a copy of a letter sent by the Chairman of the FA Greg Clarke regarding a potential sale of Wembley Stadium, a matter I feel sure you are aware of.

Friday 27 April 2018
By Email: FA Council Members

Dear Council Colleagues,
Yesterday I wrote you a brief note to ensure as best I could that you were aware of the offer to buy Wembley Stadium at the time the news hit the public domain. As always that's not an easy process to manage. Following the meeting I can now however provide you with a little more information.

The process to evaluate the feasibility of selling Wembley Stadium to fund our national facilities deficit has been developed thoroughly over several months by the Executive with the help of a major city adviser. I have reviewed progress throughout and it only came to the Board yesterday when all sides felt it was in the appropriate position to be formally reviewed.

At yesterday's meeting the Board agreed unanimously to explore the sale but has not committed yet to any course of action. As you would expect there was a debate around both the challenges a sale may bring and the opportunities it may create. I can also confirm that the concept has been discussed with senior Government, Sport and Football stakeholders and we have received a positive response but at this stage no formal approval. It is fair to say all parties can see the need to proceed with caution and with an eye to the risks involved.

Those risks and challenges will be explored in the days ahead but one thing I would like to make clear is that should the Board agree to proceed with a sale of Wembley it is our intention that all proceeds would be placed in trust by The FA with governance approved by Football Stakeholders, Government and Sport England to ensure they are allocated to closing the facilities gap and building community assets up and down England. An initiative which we hope our public funders could partner with us on, and one I know you will all recognise as vital at a time when we lose 1 in 7 fixtures in the winter months and only 1 in 3 grass pitches are considered adequate to play on.

The hard work will now be done by the Executive team and their external advisors. The Board will ensure it can provide the appropriate oversight and governance of this process and will evaluate any final offer as and when all parties are ready to do so. This of course will not happen before we as a Council have had chance to discuss the issue in full and I would urge you all to take the opportunity to canvass the views of your members in the next few weeks to come with as broad a view from across the game as possible when we meet on 29th May.
Best regards,
Greg Clarke

theFA for allThe Emirates FA Cup Season 2018-2019 - 25 March

The purpose of this letter is to provide Leagues at Step 1-6 of The FA National League System with notice of indicative dates for the Qualifying Competition of The Emirates FA Cup for next season.

Please note these are not confirmed:-

Extra Preliminary Round Saturday 11 August 2018
Preliminary Round Saturday 25 August 2018
First Round Qualifying Saturday 8 September 2018
Second Round Qualifying Saturday 22 September 2018
Third Round Qualifying Saturday 6 October 2018
Fourth Round Qualifying Saturday 20 October 2018

It is necessary to have a two week gap between each of the Preliminary and Qualifying Rounds, and a three week gap between the Fourth Round Qualifying and First Round Proper, which is important to assist with the planning and preparation for the delivery of matches in the First Round Proper.

Further details will be circulated to the Leagues in the coming weeks once they have been confirmed, hopefully sometime before the end of April. In the meantime we hope that providing early notice of this information is helpful towards your planning arrangements for next season.

Yours faithfully,
Chris Darnell
FA Competitions Manager

Potential Lateral Movement - 11 December

The League has received information from the Football Association with regard to two issues that may affect certain club's.

Hellenic League Executive Officer Brian King explains. "As club's will be aware from previous correspondence earlier in the season there will be changes in the Non League System for season 2018-2019 whereby an additional Step 3 & Step 4 Division will be generated in the Midlands and all Step 5 & 6 Divisions being reduced to a maximum of 20 clubs. "

"It is likely that Lateral Transfers will take place to reduce/increase membership of clubs in competitions that are over or under-subscribed, however, that is not to say that a club that believes they would benefit from a lateral transfer to another competition should still apply."

"As clubs will also be aware I am leading an application to the FA for the Uhlsport Hellenic League Division TWO to attain Step 7 status and await certain details from clubs within TWO EAST & WEST to finalise the UHL application for such status."
