Coach Appointed For 2018/19 Season - 30 April

steve deverall hellenic league footballEnd of the season discussions behind the scenes have led to Holyport appointing a FA Level 2 coach.

Holyport's Richard Tyrell advises. "We are delighted to announce that Steve Deverall (pictured) has accepted the club's offer to come on board as the club coach. Steve will plan the pre season sessions alongside the management team and also help with the clubs training sessions as the season progresses. Steve will continue in his players role on match days and the pre match warm ups will be taken by the management team as he continues to be an integral part of the playing squad."

"Steve also currently coaches an FC Holyport side, alongside this and the hours of experience Steve will gain taking on the first team role will hopefully aid his experience, as he looks to further his passion and coaching education on route to obtaining his UEFA B license in the near future."

Top 5 Challenge - 24 March

Holyport managers Rake and Rolfe have challenged the team to finish 5th in Uhlsport Hellenic League Division One East this season, which is in their own hands.

But this will mean they have to beat the Suma's today.  Wokingham have not played since 17 February whereas this will be Port's third game in seven days.

The challenge for Holyport will be to match Tuesday night's Bluefin Sport Supplementary Cup performance on every level and not to let this standard drop. Man for man they out ran and out battled Premier Division Brimscombe & Thrupp, today requires more of the same rather than a case of after the Lord mayor's show!

As seems the case most weeks at the moment there will be more changes tomorrow as Holyport are missing Ovens, Hedges, Forisky and Lowther, but in come Dexter, Feaver, Ensby Ackerman and Rake.

Port Need To Be At Best - 17 March

Holyport travel to Windor's Stag Meadow stadium today to take on Virginia Water in Division One East.

This season has seen two tight games between Port and Waters, a 1-1 draw in the League and then another 1-1 draw in the Perpetua Press Floodlit Cup which the Waters won on penalties.

After a few weeks without a game Holyport have two games in 72 hours both away, they travel to Brimscombe & Thrupp on Tuesday night for a Bluefin Sport Supplementary Cup fixture.

Today's squad is pretty much at full strength, with a full bench. Defranco, Hedges, Dexter, Sharp, Ovens, Whitfield, Ackerman, Forisky, Deverall, Rake, Driffill, Bradley, Lowther, Feaver, Marques, Evans.

Hopefully the predicted snow will stay away and the fixture will take place. Virginia Water had a tight game with Premier Division Binfield on Tuesday evening in the Perpetua Press Floodlit Cup, so Port will need to be at their best if they are to take anything from today's game.

alan ackerman hellenic league footballDidcot Away Day - 24 February

Holyport visit Didcot today with a chance to avenge last weeks defeat at home to Wallingford.  Port were never really at the races. Didcot Town Resrves are always a good footballing side and it took a last minute goal to gain a point at Summerleaze earlier in the season.

Alan Ackerman (pictured) if selected will make his 100th appearance for Port today at Didcot's GWR Loop Meadow Stadium, Alan came on as a sub last week as an ankle injury keeps reoccurring. More positive news is that Liam Bradley and Michael Davies are back training with the side after long term injuries.

The squad today is from Quelch, Ovens, Hedges, Sharp, Defranco, Ensby, Whitfield, Lowther, Forisky, Ackerman, Evans, Rake, Driffill, Marques, Messitt, Dexter.

One East 6th take on 7th - 16 February

It is Uhlsport Hellenic League Division One East 6th v 7th at Summerleaze tomorrow when Holyport welcome Wallingford Town.

Wallingford currently sit five points ahead but Holyport have three games in hand. Both sides are in good form and back in September Wallingford took the honours with a narrow 2-1 victory at The Hithercroft.

Holyport need to go back to October to their last defeat and have also only lost once at home all season so it should be a close game tomorrow. Holyport have a full bench but will be missing Deverall, Green and Lowther.

Holyport Squad: Sangha, Ovens, DeFranco, Hedges, Ensby, Evans, Driffill, Rake, Dexter, Forisky, Marques, Ackerman, Whitfield, Feaver, Messitt, Sharp.

Hoping Not To Get Stung - 9 February

In Uhlsport Hellenic League Division One East Holyport travel to the Wasp’s nest tomorrow to face Chalfont Wasps.

After a poor opening half on Tuesday night Holyport finally found their stride in the second period and with some clinical finishing run out comfortable 5-1 winners. Chalfont’s results have improved vastly since the early season when Holyport ran out 8-1, the last few results have seen 2-2 drawn with Wokingham and Didcot Town Reserves.

Chalfont will be looking to make amends for the early season result when everything which could go wrong did go wrong for them.

Port will travel with a full bench tomorrow. Dexter and Ackerman are closing on their 100th appearance for Holyport with 94 and 98 respectively. MOM from Tuesday night Deverall is unavailable.

Squad: Quelch, Ensby, Hedges, DeFranco, Ovens, Ackerman, Evans, Dexter, Rake, Marques, Driffill, Green, Feaver, Whitfield, Sharp, Messitt.

Looking Forward To A Game - 6 February

After three weeks without a game Holyport will be looking forward to getting going tonight in The Bluefin Sport Supplementary Cup.  Port will visit a rejuvenated Wokingham side who are in fine form since the sides last meet in December.

Back in December Holyport ran out comfortable 3-0 winners but it should be a lot closer tonight if recent results are to be judged.

Holyport's match day squad is, Quelch, Ovens, Ensby, Hedges, Dexter, Evans, Rake, Driffill, Ackerman, Messitt, Deverall, Whitfield, Marques, Defranco.

Hoping To Keep Run Going - 27 January

Holyport visit Aldermaston this afternoon. Hopefuly the game will not suffer another postponment, with both sides having games postponed last week the sides should be fresh and ready to getting going again.

It was back in October when Port overcame Aldermaston 3-2 in a poor game at Summerleaze, which saw a nervy last few minutes to the game as Aldermaston piled forward after getting their 2nd goal in the 88th minute. You will need to also go back to October 21st which is when Port's last league loss came.  The side have maintained some good form over the past months.  With Aldermaston's results picking up of late the side will need to be at it from the off to secure an away result.

Aman Singha will be back in goal after a lengthy lay off due to a groin strain, with the rest of the squad being: Ensby, Hedges, Driffill, Feaver, De Franco, Messitt, Ovens,  Nicholls, Green, Rake, Marques, Deverall and Whitfield. Quelch, Dexter and Ackerman all miss out due to injury.

Looking To Extend Run - 19 January

Holyport welcome Milton United to Summerleaze tomorrow, Milton's only league win of the season came against Holyport.

That occurred on the opening day of the season with a 3-2 victory. Since then both sides have evolved with new players appearing for both teams.

Over recent weeks the Port side has changed depending on availability, this will be no different tomorrow as we players are unavailable. Missing tomorrow will be Ensby, Whitfield, Dexter, Lowther, Ackerman, Hedges and Sharp.

Over recent weeks every player has stepped up when they've had their chance and tomorrow the management will be looking for more of the same to keep the winning run going.

Squad Effort - 6 January

Holyport welcome Thame Rangers to Summerleaze today, Thame sit directly one place below Holyport in Uhlsport Hellenic League Division One East, on 17 points but with 2 games in hand.

Holyport overcame Thame away a few months ago with a last minute winner to claim a 3-2 victory, with lots of signings in recent weeks Port will expect a stronger Thame side who visit Summerleaze. The last few weeks has seen constant improvements in Ports displays with two consecutive clean sheets - Wokingham 3-0 and Sandhurst 2-0.

The squad will missing will be Dexter, Whitfield, Hedges, Rake, Green and Lowther tomorrow. The players coming in will have their opportunity to stake a place whilst the above are missing.

Looking To Make Amends - 9 December

Holyport welcome Milton to Summerleaze this afternoon and will be looking to make amends after a 3-2 loss from the opening day season, which to date is Milton’s only league win of the season. They did beat Henley Town 7-0 last weekend but Henley have since resigned from the league and their playing record removed for the season.

This weekend the duo of Rake and Rolfe will have some selection headaches as other players are back in contention, a good problem to have along with a full compliment on the bench. Last weekend was as comfortable a result as Holyport have had all season, if it was not for the Wokingham goal keeper pulling off some excellent saves it would have been more.

Following the game the team are off out for their Christmas do where the fines money will duly get spend. A thanks to fines secretary Chris DeFranco for organising this.

Today's squad will be the same as last week less Evans, but Ensby, Lowther and Dexter.

Looking To Build On Recent Weeks - 25 November

Holyport make the short trip to Henley Town today looking to continue their recent form.  On paper a draw at home to Didcot Town Reserves was disappointing but in truth it was a good point trailing two nil and Didcot being our bogey team with five losses to them in the last two seasons. It shows the belief in this squad that we nearly came back to win as Deverall and Ackerman went close late on.

Tomorrow Henley will be looking to make amends for the three nil loss they were on the end of in September at Summerleaze.  Port managed the game very well that night and deservedly ran out winners.

After a few selection headaches in recent games injuries and unavailability have aided the managements decisions.  Quelch returns in goal with Sangha still injured, Ovens returns after running a half marathon last Saturday.  Missing are Hedges, Sharp (injured), Davies (injured) and Deverall.

Bogey Side Visit Port - 18 November

Holyport welcome Didcot Town Reserves to Summerleaze this afternoon.  Over recent seasons Didcot have proved a bogey team for Port as The Railway Men have come out winners in the past four meetings.

Port will be missing Ovens, Bradley and Davies but welcome back Steve Deverall to the club who already has 145 appearances under his belt for the club.  Over the past few seasons since leaving Holyport Steve was a regular at Ascot United.

The goalkeeper front has also been difficult over the past few weeks as regular keeper Sangha has suffered a groin strain and this has lead to Sharp and Defranco donning the gloves as emergency cover as the hunt for a keeper went on.  We would like to thank Maidenhead United Under 23s who have allowed us to dual register Sam House who will be playing today.

The Holyport regulars will be hoping for another consistent display as we build on recent positive performances.

Looking To Improve Away Form - 4 November

With a poor away record Holyport will be looking to start some away form this afternoon in the Uhlsport Hellenic League Division One East fixture at Chinnor.

Matt Rolfe is back after a 3 week holiday to Japan, skipper Lee Ovens stepped in as assistant for the last three weeks.

With no game last week it has given the players time to get over niggles with the exception of Aman Singha and Michael Davies. Aman went into our previous game with Chinnor with a groin strain so the club have signed Jake Quelch for today's game and Tuesday night Cup game at home to Virginia Water.

Chinnor beat Holyport 2-1 three weeks ago in the Challenge Cup, Holyport will hopefully look slightly stronger this afternoon as Rake made five changes for that game, players such as Dexter, Green, Rake, Driffill and Whitfield will be back in contention to start.

Holyport need to learn to know when to sit on a result after the last minute loss at Bicester 2 weeks ago. In the 93rd minute the side went chasing the win and ended up losing with a last minute counter attack. Hopefully the side have learnt that a point is not a bad result away from home.

Bluefin Action For Port - 17 October

Tonight Holyport welcome Chinnor to Summerleaze in Round 1 of The Bluefin Sport Hellenic League Challenge Cup.

This will be the first of two meetings as we visit Chinnor in Uhlsport Hellenic League Division One East action on Saturday 4 November.

After a workman like victory over AFC Aldermaston on Saturday Holyport will be making use of the squad tonight to gain important game time for everyone, also giving them the opportunity to claim a shirt for Saturday's trip to Bicester.

Over the past weeks the match day squad has changed most games and manager Barry Rake has been impressed by all of the squad. When it comes to stepping up and getting minutes every player has impressed, this is causing headaches when it comes to selecting a side and we also have Rake, Green and Davies out injured at the moment.

Tonight’s squad will have the following changes as Dexter, Bradley, Forisky all step out and Messitt returns. The winners of tonight’s tie will have a home tie to Binfield.

Welcome The Adders - 13 October

Holyport welcome a much-improved Aldermaston to Summerleaze tomorrow. After an indifferent start to the season Aldermaston have improved of late with three wins on the bounce and one defeat on penalties.

Holyport were on the end of two defeats to Aldermaston last season 1-4 and 2-5, tomorrow Port will be looking for a closer game!

The squad tomorrow will be Sangha, Ensby, Bradley, Dexter, DeFranco, Ovens, Evans, Whitfield, Forisky, Feaver, Driffill, Marques, Nicholls, Ackerman, Hedges and Sharp. Green, Davies and Rake are still long-term injuries as they overcome Groin, Shin and Ankle problems.

One East Leaders Visit Holyport - 3 October

Division One Holyport welcome current Division leaders Virginia Water to Summerleaze tonight, the first Uhlsport Hellenic League meeting between the two club's.

Though Water's will be back at Summmerleaze in November in the secord round of the Perpertua Press Floodlit Cup.

After a loss away to Wallingford on Saturday Holyport will be hopeful that their run under lights continues tonight as they look to make it four wins from four floodlit games.

Port welcome Alan Ackerman and Jonathan Feaver into the squad tonight, both of whom have played for Holyport before, along with Matt Ensby who missed Saturday due to work commitments.

It could not get any tougher, as Saturday will then see second place Penn & Tyler's Green visit Summerleaze.

Port To Wallingford - 30 September

Holyport will make their first visit to Wallingford since a pre-season game some ten years years previous.

With Port bouncing back in mid week with a good away win in the Perpetua Press Floodlit Cup at Burnham, Rake and Matt Rolfe are urging the side to show some consistency. Results have been a little up and down of late and with a host of games coming up a good run of form will move them up the table. Holyport made five changes to the starting side away to Burnham and all the players did well, some tough decisions will need to be made for Division One East fixture today.

Wallingford have had a steady start to their season much like Holyport, but sit just one point behind.

The squad will be similar to Tuesday night with the exception of Bradley and Forisky who return and Ensby who is unavailable. Jon Feaver's paperwork is still going through and all being well will be available for Tuesday night at home to Virginia Water.

Reaction Required -26 September

Holyport will be looking to make amends for the Buildbase FA Vase defeat, when they visit Burnham tonight in Perpetua Press Floodlit Cup.

“Make no mistake we were not deserving of a win on Saturday” says Richard Tyrell “Bit the 7-0 defeat was not all it seems. The hosts scored with pretty much each of their chances whilst Holyport missed all of theirs.”

“Tonight will give the players who have waited patiently in recent weeks to get minutes and prove their credentials as we move forward into another bust week with a further two games in four days.”

Holyport have also secured the signing of Jonny Feaver who joined Chalfont Wasps at the start of the season following the previous two seasons with Holyport.

Similar Starts For Both - 12 September

Holyport welcome Henley Town to Summerleaze this evening.  Both sides will be looking to claim the three points on offer as they have had similar openings to their seasons.  Both teams have lost to Sandhurst and Penn while winning away at Thame Rangers.

The young Holyport side are starting to adjust to life in this league after many stepped up from the Reserve division last season, mixed with the experience of some of the senior players they have shown great spirit and played good football at times.  The spirit was there to see against Thame with Holyport not playing that well but they kept coming back to regain the lead and in the 89th minute secured the win with a Driffill strike.

Few changes to the squad sees Ovens, Ensby and Finlinson return.

Holyport Preview - 12 September

Holyport make the trip to the ASM stadium tomorrow to face new comers Thame Rangers this afternoon.

This will be the first meeting between the two sides and Thame Rangers will be looking to kick start their league campaign after only securing one point today which was in an away draw to Chinnor. Holyport managed to secure their first points of the season with an emphatic 8-1 win at home on Tuesday night against Chalfont Wasps.

Rake and Rolfe were delighted with the sides response after suffering a 6-1 loss just days earlier away to Sandhurst Town. Rake commented to the local press... “We have a few players back and available now and that makes a difference. Four have not played much at all and we were missing a few on Saturday.

“It was a great performance against Chalfont and we took all our chances, so it was fantastic. Normally you miss a few but the scoreline says it all and I thought we thoroughly deserved to win"

The squad will be slightly different today as Ovens, Finnlinson and Lowther are unavailable but Hedges and Bradley come back in. Holyport know that they need to back up Tuesdays result with another solid performance if they want to gain anything from their visit to Thame.

Road To Sandhurst - 26 August

Holyport visit Sandburst Town this afternoon, but games last season were tight affairs with a narrow 2-1 loss away and a 1-1 draw at home. Not that these results carry much weight going into the new season as both squads have a vast influx of new players.

After an excellent pre season Sandhurst got their league campaign off and running with a comfortable 4-0 win against Henley Town whilst Holyport were defeated 3-0 At Penn.

Holyport are still suffering from player unavailability as holidays and cricket are still taking an affect. After a good training session on Tuesday the squad are missing Ovens, Hedges, Pulsford, Sharp, Bradley, Nicholls, Lowther and Driffill. Defranco comes back into the side as does Slater.

Holyport Join Forces With Maidenhead - 22 August

Holyport Football Club are to offer Maidenhead United season ticket holders the opportunity to watch Holyport home games for just £1 per game this season.

The clubs have partnered on this initiative to try and help Holyport boast their supporter base when Maidenhead are away from home, whilst also making Magpies fans aware of where Maidenhead Under 23's will play their home games this season.

This joint venture has been backed by Maidenhead United as they encourage fans to support grassroots football both with Holyport and Maidenhead Under 23s

Holyport will start their home league campaign on Tuesday 29th August with Chalfont Wasps the visitors in a 19:45pm KO. Whilst Holyport might not have the glitz and glamour of National League Football, one thing is for sure and that's your get plenty of entertainment for your £1.

Tough Trip To Division Champions - 18 August

Holyport make the trip to double, and reigning, One East champions Penn & Tylers Green tomorrow looking to bounce back from a harsh defeat at Milton United last weekend.

Holyport had plenty of chances to put the game to bed before Milton got themselves back into the match and ended up winning 3-2. With Penn winning comfortably against Henley Town (6-0) their confidence will be buoyed going into the game already.

Last season saw plenty of goals in the two games with Holyport on the end of a 4-1 home loss and a 6-3 away loss. Holyport are a much-changed side this season and some new faces who were unavailable last week will feature in the squad. New faces Nathan Green and Joshua Lowther will come into the squad along with Forisky while Ovens and Defranco are unavailable.

Holyport know they will need to be at their best to get anything from the game as Penn went undefeated at home all last season with Rayners Lane the only side to take points in a 1-1 draw as the season drew to a close.

Port Away To Milton - 11 August

Holyport will make their Uhlsport Hellenic League One East 2017/18 season start away to Milton United tomorrow.

It’s been nearly two seasons to the day since the sides last meet, last time it was in the FA Cup and Milton were a Premier Division side. On that day, a host of missed chances came back to haunt Port who went down 1-3 at home.

Regarding the team news there will be a host of debuts for the side as a much-changed side goes forward into the season. Only 11 of the 21 players signed on will be familiar to the Holyport faithful. New faces set to don the new away kit tomorrow are Liam Bradley, Chris Defranco, Fabian Driffill, Charlie Evans, Harry Messitt, Aman Sangha Paul Nicholls, and Carl Slater.

The side will be without Andy Forisky, Joshua Lowther, Chris Hedges and Ben Pulsford who are all unavailable.

Grant Boost - 28 July

Holyport would like to thank the Louis Baylis Charitable Trust for their continued support. Following an application made in May the club have received news that we have been awarded £500.

This application was made to purchase a grass collection box for our sit on mower. A job which was previously done by hand with a rake!

The local area is very thank you to the Charity and Maidenhead Advertiser, it is a special organisation where 80% profits are put back into the local community.

chris pope hellenic league footballChris Moves On - 30 June

After five years with Holyport and the last two as Secretary and first team coach Chris Pope is moving to Gloucestershire with his family.

The club would like to put on record their thanks to Chris for the last five seasons. During the five seasons Chris started as a player against Penn & Tylers on 23rd August and made 19 appearances during the season before also helping with the coaching the following season which saw the side finish 6th and Chris only play 7 games as he concentrated on the coaching whilst also suffering a bad knee injury.

The 2015/16 season saw Chris step up to the first team and also enrol and complete his FA Level 2 coaching badge whilst also undertaking the role of match day Secretary for the club which he carried out for two seasons.

All at the club would like to wish Chris and his family all the very best for the future.

matt rolfe hellenic leagueRolfe Returns - 2 June

Holyport Football Club are pleased to announce the appointment of Matthew Rolfe to the first team management setup for the 2017/18 season.

Matt was part of the Flackwell Heath Reserves setup last season that finished runners up in Division 2 East and also runners up in The Wycombe Junior Cup. The club were disappointed to lose Matt in August last season as he decided to try his hand at management.

Joining Holyport in March 2010 and playing 156 times for Holyport. Matt knows the club very well and we are all delighted that after a few brief discussions he accepted our offer and has re-joined the club.
