Marcus Richardson makes his debut as the manager of Flackwell Heath against Abingdon United at Wilkes Park this afternoon.

Flackwell appointed Richardson yesterday, after the previous encumbent Paul Shone departed earlier this month.

The new man has considerable experience at this level, and was in charge of fellow Uhlsport Hellenic League Premier Division, prior to resigning in October, he managed Highmoor Ibis for three seasons. He said the role at Ibis was becoming a bit too much of hard work and that he was not enjoying it as much as he should have be.

Flackwell are currently fourth in the table six points behind leaders Highworth Town.

Ian Hansford Loses His Battle Against Cancer - 9 November

ian hansford flackwell heath passed away 7 october 2017It is with great sadness that Flackwell Heath FC have learnt of the passing of their club steward Ian Hansford.

Club secretary Jo Parsons said. "Ian was known to players and officials for the great way he looked after them before, during and at the end of matches. He was an important part of the club, having been with us for the past 25 years. He will be greatly missed."

"Ian's son informed us that Ian passed away peacefully last night (Tuesday). He had fought bravely for the last 8 months against pancreatic cancer. Our thoughts are with his family at this time."

David Wright of the Bracknell News and Reading Chronicle, pays tribute to Ian. "As an occasional visitor to Flackwell Heath through my work as a journalist for newspapers in Bracknell and Reading, I would like to pay tribute to Ian Hansford, who has sadly just lost his very courageous fight against cancer. For a start, every time we saw each other he always offered a friendly handshake."

"Even at Flackwell's home game with Bracknell Town in October, when some people didn't even expect him to attend due to his deteriorating health, his main concern on his arrival at the club was to make sure that all the footballs kicked into the trees or out of the ground were retrieved and put back in the club's large ball bag."

"On a previous visit earlier this season , Ian showed me the inside cover of the Flackwell match-day programme which contained squares of pitch donated by many others, which raised some very welcomed revenue for the club. He was clearly extremely proud of what we had achieved in getting every square filled and he had every right to be, although I am sure due to his friendliness no one he asked turned him down."

"I hope his 'pitch-page' in the Flackwell match-day programme will continue forever as it will stand as a lasting tribute to this club legend. He was a real credit not only to Flackwell Heath, but to the Ulhsport Hellenic League and Non-League football. Going to Wilks Park in the future will not be quite the same without seeing Ian there."
