Rocks Challenged To Put Run Together - 20 March

Tytherington Rocks manager Dan Gillespie has challenged his Rocks players to put a run together after seeing his side win 3-1 against Clanfield on Saturday.

Gillespie said “ It had been a hard week in all fairness in the run up to the game, we had some many payers out for various different reasons including our captain and vice captain, so I was a bit worried where I was going to find a team from. I understand Clanfield had a few missing themselves.”

Gillespie was impressed with what he saw though and commented. “ Its been a hard slog all season but I questioned the players before our last game against Milton, in all truth I dug them out for being soft and a laughing stock. I saw a reaction that day and although we lost I felt we were the better side, but this week I can’t fault any of them, they got their rewards for being honest footballers.”

With only five games remaining the manager wants to see them play the right way, “We only have five games left but we have players who are due to return in the next few weeks and the challenge for us is to get some results and show case what were capable of. The belief is back amongst all of us, so why not have a go.”

Gillespie Busy As Rocks Get Rolling - 28 July

New Rocks manager Dan Gillespie has been a busy person so far this summer, recruiting a complete new squad for the forthcoming contest.

The new man at the helm has already seen his side play five friendlies winning two and losing three, but he feels those game will see is side well come that start of the season.

Gillespie said “It’s been tough. I’m under no illusions at just how big a task this is, I’ve come to the club with only two players remaining from last season but the players I’ve managed to get signed are quality players, and there are still a few I want to see put pen to paper. Pre season so far has been about getting players in and seeing how they do on the pitch. We haven’t worked on many things team shape wise but the players will soon see what my philosophies are about in the next two weeks. Believe me my mark will be well and truly stamped on the team come the 13th against Milton”

Gillespie has already signed some key player including former Forest Green Rovers Under 18 Captain Jack Edge, Former Hastings United player Luke Whittam, former Cardiff City Youth team player Liam Fears, former Yate Town players Jamel Fisher, Sven Hope and Lewis Bezer, former Bishops Cleeve Keeper Adam Clark along with former Kings Stanley Players Dan McNally and Ryan Stevenson.

Gillespie commented. "There’s some wonderful talent we’ve signed and the task now is to add some quality to that and gel that into a team and spirit. There’s some impressive characters in that list Dan McNally is a wonderfully gifted centre back who will captain us this season and the leadership and football qualities of Luke Whittam who will be vice. It’s exciting times."

Pat Hendzel will be Gillespie's assistant this season and Gillespie had this to say about Hendzel “Pat's very enthusiastic and he shares the same passion and values I do, he works just as hard as I do behind the scenes and the lads have enjoyed his sessions so far, he’s a man I trust in Football.

The Rocks Kick off their season on August the 13th home to Milton at the Hardwicke Field 3pm.
