Thame Management Confirmed - 8 May

Thame United are delighted to announce that the Championship winning management team of Mark West, Stuart Blaik and Hugh McCluskie have confirmed their commitment to the Club, and will take the side forward in to the 2017/18 season and their return to the Evo-Stik Southern League after a 12 year absence.

West, who is in his second spell as manager and his eleventh concurrent year, is looking forward to the challenges of the Southern League whilst Blaik, who has been Assistant Manager for the last 4 years, said: "Winning the Uhlsport Hellenic League this season has been an amazing achievement for everyone involved at the football club. It is a very tough league and you have to win it to guarantee promotion. We only had a very small squad of players and we were very fortunate with injuries. All the lads have been absolutely terrific and they deserve a chance at the next level. All the players have committed to being with us again next season which made our decision to continue an easy one. Of course we will be looking to improve the squad if we can over the next few weeks. At the moment were are all enjoying being the champions but excited about playing in the Southern League next season".

McCluskie will continue to bring his wealth of coaching experience to the side, knowledge that was integral to the success last season.

Pre-season training will commence on Tuesday 27th June, with the finishing touches currently being put to the pre-season schedule.

Former League One Player Signs for Thame - 10 July

Thame United have received a major boost with the signing of former League One player Steve Gregory for the forthcoming season.

Gregory, a 29-year old midfielder, played over 25 games for Bournemouth in the 2011/12 season before moving on to Gillingham – for whom he made over 50 appearances in the 2013/14 season – with two spells at AFC Wimbledon, including a victorious play-off final victory against Luton Town that secured league status for Wimbledon. Gregory has also appeared twice for England C, playing in matches against Wales (2010) and Belgium (2011).

Commenting on the signing, Assistant Manager Stuart Blaik said ‘Steve is a fantastic signing for us and comes with wealth of recent football league experience. He will improve us in so many ways, none more so than helping develop the young players we have coming through. We are delighted he has joined us and we are looking forward to seeing him in a Thame United shirt this coming season’.

Since finishing his professional career Gregory has established Fitlife Health Club Ltd, and is in the process of completing a major refurbishment of facilities in Haddenham – only a couple of miles from Thame – to create a bespoke boutique gym (www.fitlife.co.uk)

More Signings for Thame United - 9 July

david lynn hellenic leagueFormer Oxford United player David Lynn (pictured) has committed to Thame United for the forthcoming season.

Lynn, a left back who joined the Club last October from Aylesbury FC and made his debut in a 2-2 draw at Lydney Town, went on to win the Supporters Player of the Year award. Keeping Lynn at the Club after his performances last season is a major coup for Manager Mark West and Assistant Stuart Blaik as they build for the new season.

Joining Lynn in signing for the new season is Calvin Evans, a right-sided attacking player now in his third season as a regular in the first team. Evans, who has also managed one of the youth teams at the Club, brings pace and athleticism to the side and an ability to unsettle any defence.

United Capture Goss Signature - 8 July

Thame United manager Mark West has secured the services of striker Lynton Goss for the forthcoming season.

Goss, pictured, who played for United in the 2013/14 season, has spent the last two years as a regular for Aylesbury FC in the Evo-Stik Southern League, and will bring pace, trickery and further goals to the United front line.

Also putting pen to paper and re-signing for the Club are centre back Aiden Bailey, who came in to the side mid-way through last season from Winslow United, and hard-working striker Andrew Gledhill who last year walked away with the Players Player and Managers Player of the Year awards.
